Besides a course or teacher, what do you use? Apps, YouTube channels, podcasts, websites? Looking for free and paid options.

For self-study alongside lessons: Duolingo or similar for daily exposure; YouTube for grammar explanations and listening. Podcasts: "Russian with Max" (clear, slower), "Compass" / Компас for simpler news. For conversation, nothing beats regular speaking with a teacher or tandem—apps are good for vocabulary and drills but not enough for real fluency. We give our students extra materials and conversation club access.

I use Anki for vocab, YouTube for grammar when I'm stuck, and VividRussian for actual speaking. The combo works well.

"Slow Russian" podcast and Netflix with Russian subs when I feel brave. Plus our group classes for practice.

Choose one or two resources and stick with them so you don't scatter your effort. And always prioritise listening and speaking over passive drills if your goal is conversation.
